The district of Boudh (also Baudha , Oriya ବୌଦ୍ଧ ଜିଲ୍ଲା Baud'dha Jillā ) is a district in the east Indian state of Odisha .
The district is located in the mountains of the Eastern Ghats and extends along the south bank of the Tel and Mahanadi rivers . The administrative seat is the eponymous city of Boudh . The area is 3098 km². The population density is 142 inhabitants / km².
Today's Boudh district was created on January 2, 1994, when the then Phulbani district was divided into two - into the two newly established districts of Boudh and Kandhamal . The princely state of the same name still existed until January 1, 1948 .

In 2011 there were 441,162 inhabitants in the district. The gender ratio was 981 women for 1,000 men. The literacy rate was 71.61% (83.34% for men, 59.79% for women). The vast majority of the population is Hindu (99.32%).
