The Tel is a right tributary of the Mahanadi in the east Indian state of Odisha .

It rises in the north of the Nabarangpur district , briefly flows through the state of Chhattisgarh to the east and then flows further to the northeast. It flows into the Mahanadi River after about 220 kilometers near the city of Sonapur .

The Tel does not have water all year round, but dries up in the dry season .
