Jost Halfmann

Jost Halfmann (* 1947 ) is a German sociologist . From November 1993 until the winter semester 2015/16 he was professor at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

After studying sociology and philosophy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , Halfmann was a research assistant for sociology between 1975 and 1982 and received his doctorate in 1976.

After his habilitation in 1981, he became professor of sociology in the social sciences department at the University of Osnabrück in 1982 . He held this post until 1993, before he became Professor of Sociology ( Professorship for Technological Sociology ) at the TU Dresden in November 1993 . He held this professorship until the 2015/16 winter semester.

In the meantime, Halfmann was visiting professor at the Technical University of Vienna in the winter semester 1994/95 and visiting professor in the spring semester 2000 and autumn semester 2004 at the University of California in Berkeley .
