history

The Formel D Group was founded in 1993 by Viola Metzner and Hans-Josef Orth with around 60 employees, initially as a service provider for the field of technical documentation, initially specializing in glove specialist literature. The opening of the first international branch in Banburry took place in 1994, and in 1996 the first subsidiary in Brazil was added. In 1998 the first office was opened in the United States . By 2003 the number of employees had grown to around 650. Two years later, in 2005, a Chinese subsidiary was founded. Only a little later, in 2006, the 1,000th employee was hired. In 2010, the new business models Refining Manufacturing Center (RMC) and Skill Enhancement Center (SEC) were launched. With over 2000 employees, more than 100 million euros were generated in 2011. In the same year four Quality Confirmation Centers (QCC) were set up. The Warranty Solution Center (WSC) was founded as well as a new location in Craiova, Romania. In 2012, a new QCC location was opened in Pretoria, South Africa.

In 2019, Formel D is represented with over 12,000 employees at more than 90 locations worldwide. Jürgen Laakmann is the CEO of the company.
