Bedfordview is a district of the South African metropolitan municipality Ekurhuleni in the province of Gauteng . As a statistical district and historically, it belongs to the city of Germiston .

The place, which is listed as a subplace in the population statistics , is 1639 meters above sea level. In 2011 Bedfordview had 13,959 residents. history

The original settlement was established on the Elandsfontein farm site and attracted retired miners, among other things, who farmed there on a small scale. One of these farms belonged to the Randlord Sir George Herbert Farrar, who died in 1915 and was also known for his participation in the Jameson Raid , which they named after his English hometown Bedford . The place was named Bedford View in 1926 after a competition; later he became Bedfordview. After 1994 Bedfordview came to Germiston and in 2000 with Germiston and other cities to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

Bedfordview is home to several nationwide companies including Airports Company South Africa , Imperial Holdings , Murray and Roberts and Hyundai Automotive South Africa . The residents of Bedfordview are considered wealthy; the district is characterized by its gardens. The Eastgate Shopping Center was at its inception in 1979, the largest mall in the southern hemisphere .
