Rosny-sur-Seine is a French commune in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . The municipality has 6433 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and is located in the arrondissement of Mantes-la-Jolie and in the canton of Mantes-la-Jolie . The inhabitants are called Rosnéens .
geography
Rosny-sur-Seine is located about 45 kilometers west-northwest of Paris . Rosny-sur-Seine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rolleboise in the north, Guernes in the northeast, Mantes-la-Jolie and Buchelay in the east, Jouy-Mauvoisin in the southeast, Perdreauville in the south, Saint-Illiers-la-Ville in the southwest, Lommoye and La Villeneuve-en-Chevrie in the west and Bonnières-sur-Seine in the north-west.
The large Forêt de Rosny , a wooded area of 11.52 square kilometers, is located in the municipality . The A13 autoroute runs through Rosny-sur-Seine (no connection).
history
The origin of the community lies in the Gallo-Roman settlement of Rodonium . In the 11th century the Mauvoisin family built a castle complex. In 1843 the station was opened on the Paris-Rouen line.
