Mézy-sur-Seine is located in northern France in the Vexin français region on the Seine , 36 kilometers northwest of Paris , about 14 kilometers northwest of Mantes-la-Jolie , the seat of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement , and 1.9 kilometers southwest of Meulan en-Yvelines , the capital of the canton and the municipal association of Vexin-Seine at an average altitude of 86 meters above sea ​​level . Neighboring municipalities of Mézy-sur-Seine are Oinville-sur-Montcient in the north, Hardricourt in the east, Les Mureaux in the south-east and Juziers in the south-west. history

In the 10th century, a fortified structure was built in Mézy to protect Meulan. Until the 13th century Mézy was a fiefdom of the Viscount de Meulan. Then it became a village with its own church.

In the 17th century the community grew. The houses were often built outside of the town center. The viticulture reached its peak. Later peas in particular were grown. The road from Paris to Mantes-la-Jolie was built in the 18th century.

In 1793 Mézy-sur-Seine received as Mézy in the course of the French Revolution (1789-1799) the status of a municipality and in 1801 under the name Mezy-les-Mureaux through the administrative reform under Napoleon Bonaparte the right to local self-government . The municipality has been called Mézy-sur-Seine since 1971.

In 1879 the old town hall was built, which also housed the village school. In 1984 the town hall moved into the castle.

Mézy-sur-Seine belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Meulan - Rive Droite de la Seine of the Diocese of Versailles . The Saint-Germain church was built in the 13th century and restored in the 16th century.
