Rosay is a commune of 368 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Mantes-la-Jolie and the canton of Bonnières-sur-Seine . The inhabitants are called Roséens .
geography
Rosay is located about eleven kilometers south of Mantes-la-Jolie and covers an area of 454 hectares. Neighboring communities are:
- Villette in the north,
- Arnouville-lès-Mantes in the east,
- Septeuil in the south and
- Boinvilliers to the west.
Toponymy
The name Rosay probably goes back to the French term roselière (German: reed ).
