In the Celtic times this was a settlement for the Celts . Tombs have been documented for the Merovingian period between the fourth and seventh centuries. In 845 the Vikings destroyed the area.

During the Second World War, the bridges over the Mauldre and the Seine were destroyed as well as the train station and the old château.
