Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the area of the six municipalities of Andelu , Bazemont , Herbeville , Mareil-sur-Mauldre , Maule and Montainville became the arrondissement of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and the area of the municipality Gambais assigned to the Rambouillet arrondissement .
history
The Mantes arrondissement was created on February 18, 1800 within the former Seine-et-Oise department . It was dissolved in 1926 and re-established in 1943. From 1800 to 1926 the arrondissement comprised five cantons: Mantes, Bonnières, Limay, Houdan and Magny. On December 31, 1943, the arrondissement with six cantons was restored: Meulan was added to the five previous ones, who until then had belonged to the arrondissement of Versailles . On January 1, 1964, with the establishment of the Yvelines and Val-d'Oise departments , the canton of Magny was added to the Pontoise arrondissement .
