history

The Diocese of Rayagada was established on April 11, 2016 by Pope Francis from cession of territory from the Diocese of Berhampur and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar as a suffragan . Aplinar Senapati was appointed first bishop .

The diocese of Berhampur includes the districts of Kalahandi , Koraput , Malkangiri , Nabarangapur , Nuapara and Rayagada in the state of Odisha .
