The Archdiocese of Bangalore ( Latin Archidioecesis Bangalorensis ) is an archdiocese of Roman Catholic in India with its seat in Bangalore .

history

The present archdiocese was originally part of the Mysore Mission . Bangalore was established as a separate diocese on February 13, 1940 and elevated to an archdiocese on September 19, 1953. On November 14, 1988, parts of the diocesan area were given to the newly established Shimoga diocese .
