Packiam Arokiaswamy

Packiam Arokiaswamy (born February 20, 1921 in Kombeikadu ; † May 22, 2003 ) was Archbishop ad personam and Bishop of Tanjore .

Life

Packiam Arokiaswamy was ordained a priest on December 12, 1946 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Ootacamund on January 16, 1971 . The Archbishop of Bangalore , Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Antony Padiyara , Archbishop of Changanacherry , and Francis Xavier Muthappa , Bishop of Coimbatore .

On December 6, 1971, he was appointed Archbishop of Bangalore. Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Tanjore on September 12, 1986.

On June 28, 1997, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
