Rajarethinam Arokiasamy Sundaram (born June 10, 1905 in Megathur , British India , † August 28, 1998 ) was Bishop of Tanjore .

Life

Rajarethinam Arokiasamy Sundaram received on 24 February 1941, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On February 4, 1953, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Tanjore. The Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore , Louis Mathias SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Bangalore , Thomas Pothacamury , and the Bishop of Tiruchirappalli , James Mendonça .

Bishop Sundaram was particularly committed to the expansion of the Velankanni pilgrimage site and the Our Lady of Good Health basilica . He founded the Our Lady of Health Hospital .

On September 12, 1986 Pope John Paul II accepted the resignation put forward by Rajarethinam Arokiasamy Sundaram for reasons of age.
