James Mendonça

James Mendonça (born January 2, 1892 in Muchur , British India , † April 14, 1978 ) was Bishop of Tiruchirappalli .

Life

James Mendonça received on 8 December 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 7, 1938, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the bishop of Tiruchirappalli. The bishop of Madurai , Jean Pierre Leonard SJ, ordained him episcopal on July 25th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Mangalore , Vittore Rosario Fernandes , and the Bishop of Tuticorin , Francesco Tiburzio Roche SJ.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On November 23, 1970, Pope Paul VI. the resignation submitted by James Mendonça for reasons of age.
