The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ootacamund ( lat. : Dioecesis Ootacamundensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Udagamandalam (Ootacamund). It includes the Nilgiris District , parts of the Erode District and a smaller part of the Coimbatore District in the state of Tamil Nadu .
history
The diocese of Ootacamund was on July 3, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Nunciature in Psalmis from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Mysore and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore as a suffragan .
