The Roman Catholic Diocese of Mysore ( lat. : Dioecesis Mysuriensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Mysore .
history
The Pro-Vicariate Apostolic Mysore was established in 1845 from cessions of territory from the diocese of Madura . It was founded in 1850 by Pope Pius IX. raised to the Apostolic Vicariate of Mysore . On September 1, 1886, the Vicariate Apostolic Mysore was raised to the diocese. It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bangalore as a suffragan . The diocese of Mysore gave up several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new dioceses.
