The diocese of Shimoga ( lat. : Dioecesis Shimogaensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Shimoga .

history

The Diocese of Shimoga was established on November 14, 1988 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Id spectantes from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Bangalore and the Diocese of Chikmagalur . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bangalore as a suffragan .
