Alfonso Beretta PIME (born December 26, 1911 in Brugherio , Lombardy , Italy , † May 23, 1998 ) was Bishop of Warangal .

Life

Alfonso Beretta joined the Congregation of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions in and received on 22 September 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 23, 1950, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Hyderabad . The Archbishop of San Milan , Alfredo Ildefonso Cardinal Schuster OSB , donated him episcopal ordination on April 8, 1951 ; Co- consecrators were the Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, Archbishop Lorenzo Maria Balconi PIME, and the Auxiliary Bishop in Milan, Domenico Bernareggi . On January 8, 1953, Pius XII appointed him. to the first bishop of Warangal.

On November 30, 1985, Pope John Paul II accepted Alfonso Beretta's request to resign on grounds of age.

Alfonso Beretta attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
