José Vázquez Díaz OdeM (born November 20, 1913 in Monforte de Lemos , Galicia , † May 30, 1998 ) was a Spanish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Bom Jesus do Gurguéia .

Life

José Vázquez Díaz joined the Congregation of Mercedarian at and received on 8 November 1936, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 8, 1956, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Usula and ordered him to coadjutor - prelate of Bom Jesus do Piauí. The Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela , Fernando Cardinal Quiroga y Palacios , donated him episcopal ordination on September 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Tui , José Ángel López Ortiz , and the Bishop of Palencia , José Souto Vizoso . José Vázquez Díaz became prelate of Bom Jesus do Piauí on March 8, 1958, succeeding the late Inocéncio Lopez Santamaria OdeM. On May 26, 1978 Carlesi renounced the titular bishopric of Usula. José Vázquez Díaz was appointed the first bishop of Bom Jesus do Gurguéia on October 26, 1981 as a result of the elevation of the territorial prelature Bom Jesus do Piauí to the diocese of Pope John Paul II .

On March 1, 1989, John Paul II accepted José Vázquez Díaz's resignation due to reasons of age.

José Vázquez Díaz attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
