João Aloysio Hoffmann

João Aloysio Hoffmann (born June 24, 1919 in São Leopoldo , Rio Grande do Sul , Brazil ; † June 27, 1998 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Erexim .

Life

After studying Catholic theology and philosophy, João Aloysio Hoffmann received the sacrament of ordination on December 19, 1943 .

On March 26, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the first bishop of Frederico Westphalen . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on June 10 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Passo Fundo , João Cláudio Colling , and the Bishop of Santa Maria , Luís Victor Sartori .

João Aloysio Hoffmann attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

On May 27, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Erexim, established on the same date .

On January 26, 1994, Pope John Paul II accepted João Aloysio Hoffmann's resignation due to reasons of age.
