Girônimo Zanandréa

Girônimo Zanandréa (born June 9, 1936 in São Valentim ; † November 3, 2019 in Erexim ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Erexim .

Life

Girônimo Zanandréa, after studying philosophy and theology at the Major Seminary of Our Lady of Conception in Viamão , was ordained a priest for the diocese of Erexim on July 3, 1964 . From 1965 to 1966 he was a teacher at the Fatima Seminary in Erechim. In 1967 he became spiritual director and professor at the seminary of Jesus in Tapera and from 1968 to 1972 professor at the Fatima seminary in Erechim, where he also held the rectorate from 1973 to 1977. Girônimo Zanandréa was also professor of philosophy and scientific research methodology at the Erechim University Center (CESE-FAPES) from 1969 to 1987. 1983 to 1985 he completed dogmatic theology studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. From 1985 to 1995 he was professor at the Institute for Theology and Pastoral (ITEPA).

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Erexim on November 16, 1987 . The apostolic nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Carlo Furno , donated him episcopal ordination on January 17th the next year ; Co- consecrators were João Aloysio Hoffmann , Bishop of Erexim, and João Cláudio Colling , Archbishop of Porto Alegre .

When João Aloysio Hoffmann retired on January 26, 1994, he succeeded him as Bishop of Erexim. On June 6, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. Girônimo Zanandréa's application for resignation due to reasons of age.

His tomb is in the bishop's tomb at Erexim Cathedral .
