Christophe Adimou

Christophe Adimou (born January 12, 1916 in Cana , Benin , † July 8, 1998 in Cotonou ) was Archbishop of Cotonou .

Life

After studying Catholic theology and philosophy, Christophe Adimou received the sacrament of ordination on January 14, 1951 . From 1958 to 1960 Christophe Adimou was editor-in-chief of the Benin church newspaper La Croix du Bénin .

On March 11, 1968, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the first bishop of Lokossa . The Archbishop of Cotonou, Bernardin Gantin , donated him episcopal ordination on July 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Abomey , Lucien Monsi-Agboka , and the Bishop of Atakpamé , Bernard Oguki-Atakpah .

On June 28, 1971 Paul VI appointed him. to the Archbishop of Cotonou. On December 27, 1990, Pope John Paul II accepted Christophe Adimou's resignation due to reasons of age.

From 1972 to 1991 Christophe Adimou was also President of the Bishops' Conference of Benin.
