Ramón López Carrozas

Ramón López Carrozas OdeM (born August 31, 1937 in Sarria , Spain ; † April 28, 2018 in Teresina , Brazil ) was a Spanish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Bom Jesus do Gurguéia in Brazil.

Life

Ramón López Carrozas joined the religious order of Mercedarians and was ordained a priest on April 10, 1960 . He completed his philosophical and theological studies in the monastery of Poyo Pontevedra in Spain. He studied dogmatics in 1961 in Salamanca. In 1967 he came to Brazil as a missionary and worked from 1967 to 1972 in Piauí in evangelism and education. He was a pastor in Rio de Janeiro from 1972 to 1979.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on April 26, 1979 auxiliary bishop in Bom Jesus do Piauí and titular bishop of Ceramus . Pope John Paul II personally donated him episcopal ordination on May 27 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Eduardo Martínez Somalo , substitute for the Vatican State Secretariat .

On March 1, 1989, he was appointed Bishop of Bom Jesus do Gurguéia by John Paul II. Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 15, 2014.
