These were settled in a ring around Ansbach in the 10th century. The ending “–winds” indicates that this place is such a Wendensiedlung. The place is first mentioned in 1166 with the name "Wolfarteswinedin". The defining word of the place name is the personal name Wolfhard . A person of this name can be assumed to be the founder of the settlement.

The Heilsbronn Monastery acquired a property there that burned down during the Thirty Years War in 1634 and the owner died in the process.

According to the 16-point report of the Principality of Ansbach from 1684, Wolfartswinden formed a community with Gösseldorf . There were three teams in Wolfartswinden. Two properties were subordinate to the Merkendorf administration office and one property to the mayor and council of Ansbach . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach court box office in Ansbach, the village and community rule was held by the Ansbach monastery office.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were six properties and a community shepherd's house in Wolfartswinden. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . The Ansbach Abbey was in charge of the village and community . The Principality of Ansbach was the landlord (Stiftsamt Ansbach: 2 half courtyards, 1 empty house ; Ansbach council : 1 half courtyard; Merkendorf administration office : 2 half courtyards). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Wolfahrtswinden was assigned to the Brodswinden tax district, formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Brodswinden, founded in 1811 . This was incorporated into the city of Ansbach on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
