Obereichenbach (colloquially: Ach ə ba ) is a district of the independent city of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Eichenbach, a left tributary of the Franconian Rezat , and the Katterbach, which flows into the Eichenbach on the left, flow through the church village . The place is divided into the Altort located south of the B 14 with the fish house , a settlement that has arisen in the northeast and the Shipton barracks of the US Army in the north. To the west are the soldiers' pond and a firing range in the Urlas corridor area. Immediately to the east of the settlement lies the Zogel ( 473  m above sea level ), in the south the local mountain, north of the barracks the Langholz.

The B 14 runs to Ansbach (3 km southwest) or to Katterbach (2 km east). The state road 2246 leads via Neubruck and Reckersdorf to Bruckberg (8 km northeast).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1249 in a deed of the St. Gumbertus monastery under the name "Eichenbach". The place name is derived from an identical water body name, the defining word of which is the tree genus oak . With the emergence of another settlement on the Eichenbach, the place received its current name Obereichenbach (first attested in 1317 as "Superior Eichenbach"). Originally, the place was under the local nobility of the Aycher.

In 1460, Duke Louis IX attacked. of Bavaria and its allies the Ansbach Margrave Albrecht Achilles . They looted and destroyed Eyb and the neighboring villages of Alberndorf , Grüb , Hirschbronn , Katterbach , Obereichenbach, Pfaffengreuth and Untereichenbach by fire .

In the 16-point report of the Principality of Ansbach from 1684, five teams are listed for Obereichenbach: four properties (three courtyards, one courtyard) were subordinate to the Ansbach court box office and one property to the Ansbach monastery office . There was also a communal shepherd's house. The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were eight properties in Obereichenbach. The court box office in Ansbach continued to exercise the high court and the village and community rule. All properties had the principality of Ansbach as landlord (Hofkastenamt Ansbach: 2 courtyards, 4 half-courtyards, 1 fish house; Stiftsamt Ansbach: 1 estate with an inn). In addition to the property, there were communal buildings (shepherd's house, crushing house ). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Obereichenbach was assigned to the Katterbach tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Katterbach, founded in 1811 . With the second municipal edict (1818) the place was re- municipalityed to Hennenbach .

In 1937, a settlement was built for the employees of the Katterbach airfield , which was expanded after the war through the settlement of expellees and is now much larger than the actual core town. The Shipton barracks of the US Army were also set up near Obereichenbach.

On July 1, 1972, Obereichenbach was incorporated into the city of Ansbach as part of the regional reform .

There was a primary school in Obereichenbach.
