history

In 1569 the village was first mentioned as "Geisengrundt", in 1732 as "Gaßengrund" and 1809 as "Gaisengrund". From the place name one can conclude that the place was founded in an originally wooded valley area with a rich population of roe deer.

In his description of the Rezatkreis (today's Middle Franconia) from 1809, Karl Heinrich Ritter von Lang reports on the origins of Geißengrund: “In older times, the Gaisengrund consisted of a complex of several undeclared properties, which were still fiefdoms of the Eichstätt monastery in the 16th century went, but were bought by Margrave Georg Friedrich in 1577 and then lumbered ”. This makes it clear that the field name existed before the place name.

Towards the end of the 18th century there was a property in Geisengrund. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . The court had the Hofkastenamt Ansbach as landlord . From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Geisengrund was assigned to the Schalkhausen tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Schalkhausen founded in 1811 . This was incorporated into the city of Ansbach on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
