Oberdombach (colloquially: Eʲb ə ʴdúmba ) is a district of the independent city of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village is located on the Höllmühlbach , a left tributary of the Altmühl . In the south is the forest area Im Forst, about 0.5 km to the north are the Eckertshölzer, about 1 km to the west is the Rotenberg, about 1 km to the southeast is the Käferbuck.

Communal roads lead to Liegenbach (0.7 km east), crossing State Road 2246 to Straßenwirtshaus (2 km north), to State road 2249 north of Neunstetten (1.8 km southwest) and to a communal road (1.5 km north-west), the to Hannenbach to the St 2246 (0.9 km north) or to Rauenbuch to the St 2249 (1.9 km southwest).

The place was first mentioned by name in 1387 as "Obertunnenbach". The place name is derived from a water body name (today called Höllmühlbach), whose defining word is the personal name Tunno. The place is a branch settlement of Niederdombach , which was called "Tunnenbach" until then.

According to the 16-point report of the Oberamt Ansbach from 1684, Oberdombach formed a community with Liegenbach and Höllmühle . 16 teams were recorded for Oberdombach. An estate was under the Hofkastenamt Ansbach , five property the pen Office Ansbach , two property the monastery stewardship Sulz , an estate the Mayor and Council to Ansbach , two property of the parish Neunstetten , four property the eichstättischen pin Chapter Herrieden and an estate the eichstättischen Office Wahrberg. " Oberdombach, parity hamlet in the Oberamte Ansbach of 17 subjects, of which 10 are Ansbach, 7 but Eichstätt, and of the latter 4 belong to the Eichstätt tax office of the Herrieden collegiate monastery, 3 however belong to the Ober- and Vogtamte Wahrberg-Aurach.
This hamlet is half an hour north above Neunstetten, where it parishes, on the Dombache, which rises from a few Weyhern near Oberdombach and falls into the Altmühl near Niederdombach.
In 1397 Heinrich Schenk von Leutershausen, his wife Maria and their son Heinrich sold their goods and income in Dombach and Neunstetten for 600 Rhenish guilders to the Eichstättischen bishop Friedrich  IV , a count of Oettingen.

As part of the municipal edict, Oberdombach was assigned to the Elpersdorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Elpersdorf, founded in 1811 . This was incorporated into the city of Ansbach on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .

The residents were originally parish to St. Veit (Neunstetten) . Since the Reformation (1528) the inhabitants of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination have been parish to St. Laurentius (Elpersdorf near Ansbach) .
