The Eckertshölzer are 0.5 km southeast of the village. The state road 2246 leads to Wiedersbach (1.2 km to the west) or to the street inn (0.7 km to the northeast). history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1345 as "Hanenbach". The place name is derived from a water body of the same name, whose determinant of the personal name is Hanno. It can be assumed that a person of this name is the founder of the settlement. The burgrave of Nuremberg had four fiefdoms , four half fiefdoms and a house here. In 1535 the community of Hannenbach sued the Reich Chamber Court against Christoph von Lüchau zu Wiedersbach , because his sheep farm used the pasture on their grounds.

After the Thirty Years' War , the place was repopulated by Austrian exiles . In 1732 Vetter's descriptions of the office say that the hamlet consists of seven subjects from the Brandenburg-Ansbach Bailiwick of Leutershausen , one subject from Eichstätt, who pays tribute to the Herrieden monastery, and a shepherd's house, is parish to St. Georg in Neunkirchen and the tenth is partly to the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste office Colmberg , partly to the margrave's office in Ansbach , partly to the mayor and advice of Ansbach and partly to Herrieden; the authority of the community , the right to appoint the shepherd, the Vogtei and the Fraisch belonged to the Brandenburg-Ansbach Vogtamt Leutershausen; Eichstätt, however, held the bailiwick over its own subjects. Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , the Colmberg caste office exercised over seven half-farms and the Herrieden monastery chapter over an estate; the shepherd's house and the crushing hut for flax processing were communal property. The Fraisch shared the Leutershausen District Bailiff and the Ansbach Court Box Office ; the village jurisdiction and the lower court were rights of the Leutershausen city bailiwick office. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Leutershausen and Chamber Office Colmberg .

As part of the community edict, Hannenbach was assigned to the Wiedersbach tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community Rauenbuch, founded in 1810 . On January 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into the city of Leutershausen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
