History and interpretation of place names

The place was first mentioned in a deed of wild animals by Emperor Otto III. for Bishop Heinrich von Würzburg , issued on May 1, 1000, named as "Cnonoldesbah" and the sixth border point.
The meaning of the determinant Cnonold cannot be clarified with certainty. The ending -walt / -old can be found in many Germanic personal names , so
Cnonold could also be a personal name. However, there is no evidence for such a personal name.

Around 1300 the Counts of Oettingen owned a hatch in Clonsbach . The place also appears in the two oldest fief books of the Hochstift Würzburg (1303–1345 and 1345–1372); The episcopal property probably came from the former property of the Ansbach monastery when it was converted into a canonical monastery in the 11th century. In Brandenburg-Ansbach fiefdoms from the 15th century for Jochsberg Castle , for example in 1423 and 1459, an estate in Clonsbach is recorded as a margrave. Towards the end of the 15th century, Sigmund von Hoppingen, called Sorge zu Sachsen, owned goods in Clonsbach; These were acquired by the Brandenburg-Ansbach margraves Georg and Albrecht in 1540. Correspondingly, a margravial fiefdom from 1544 speaks of an estate and a Söldengütlein in Clonsbach as margravial property for Jochsberg Castle . In the 16-point report of the Brandenburg-Ansbach municipal bailiff of Leutershausen from 1608, it says that Clonsbach consists of nine teams, ie subject families, of which six belong to Brandenburg and three “noble men ”, namely the Lords of Eyb zu Wiedersbach . The 16-point report of the same office from 1681 again mentions nine subjects, with only two properties belonging to the Lords of Eyb, while one farm belongs to the Jochsberg Vogtamt . In the treaty of 1710, which ended the dispute between the Hohenlohe house and the Principality of Brandenburg-Ansbach over matters relating to Hochfraisch , Clonsbach Ansbach was awarded. Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , six estates paid interest to the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste office in Colmberg , one estate to the Brandenburg-Ansbach Vogtamt Jochsberg and two estates to the Lords of Eyb in Wiedersbach; the high judiciary and the village and community rulership exercised the city bailiwick of Leutershausen. The lower court was for the Colmberg property and for the Jochsberg property at the judge's office Brunst of the Leutershausen municipal bailiff, and for the two Eyb property at their manor in Wiedersbach. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Leutershausen and Chamber Office Colmberg .

As part of the community edict, Clonsbach was assigned to the Jochsberg tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Jochsberg, founded in 1810 . The place was subordinate to the district court Leutershausen in the administration and jurisdiction except for the two former Eybschen estates (house No. 5 and 10), which from 1820 until the death of the court holder in 1839 were subordinate to the Eybschen Patrimonialgericht 1st class Wiedersbach- Rammersdorf .

On January 1, 1972, Clonsbach was incorporated into the city of Leutershausen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
