Place name interpretation

The place name is interpreted as "to the mill built from (white) stones".

history

The "weitzzen mul" was first mentioned in 1387. It belonged to the Seckendorff manor at Rauenbuch , which was acquired by the Margraves of Ansbach in 1594 ; they subordinated Rauenbuch with their affiliations to the Sulz monastery administrator . Until the Reformation , the mill belonged to the parish of Neunstetten in the diocese of Eichstätt .

In the Vetterschen Oberamtsbeschreibung from 1732 it says of the mill that it is parish after the Protestant parish of St. Peter in Leutershausen since 1528 and exempted from tithe , with the bailiwick inside Etters the monastery office Sulz and except Etters and with the Fraisch the town bailiff office Leutershausen is subject to. These conditions remained that way until the end of the Old Kingdom . From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Leutershausen and Chamber Office Colmberg .

As part of the community edict, Weißenmühle was assigned to the Wiedersbach tax district, which was formed in 1808 . She belonged to the rural community Rauenbuch, founded in 1810 .

According to a listing from 1830, the mill belonged to an extensive forest area between Leutershausen and Sulz Abbey with the main town of Brunst, called "the Brünst" or "the Brunst", which has been cleared in places since the Middle Ages . The Brünst was known for its good cattle breeding; their 22 villages were considered rich. For example, 14 head of cattle were kept in the Weißenmühle estate in 1876; in the municipality of Rauenbuch there were a total of 238 head of cattle.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Rauenbuch and thus its district Weißenmühle was incorporated into the city of Leutershausen on January 1, 1972.
