The village was first mentioned by name in the year 1000 as "Ramesgarden", interpreted as a settlement to fence in the Hraban (or Ram) . In 1293 it appears as "Ramschart", since 1342 also with the prefix "Obern": After a subsidiary settlement was established, a distinction between "Obern" and "Niedern" - Ramschart became necessary; Niedern-Ramschart, last mentioned in 1409, has gone off or gone up in Mittelramstadt .

In addition, there was a new mill in Oberramstadt, built in 1713, belonging to the Colmberg caste office, and a communal shepherd's house. The hamlet to Auerbach was parish , the tithe had to be given to the Colmberg caste office. The authority of the municipality and the shepherd's staff belonged to the Colmberg office , the bailiwick of Etters to the respective manor, the bailiwick apart from Etters and the Fraisch to the Colmberg office. Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, Oberramstadt consisted of 15 properties: two half-yards and a mill were subordinate to the Colmberg caste office, one yard and two Köbler estates were under the Ansbach monastery, one yard, a half-yard and five Köbler estates were under the Forndorf administration office and a Köblergut under Mohr; the parish prebend Colmberg (a Köblergut) was also under the Colmberg caste office. The shepherd's house was owned by the community. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Leutershausen and Chamber Office Colmberg .
As part of the municipal edict, Oberramstadt was assigned to the Auerbach tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Auerbach, founded in 1810 . On January 1, 1972, Oberramstadt was incorporated into Leutershausen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
