Place name interpretation

The defining word of the place name is Wazo, probably the personal name of the founder of the settlement.

history

The hamlet was first mentioned in a document in 1296 as "Wazendorf". Around 1400 Waizendorf belonged to the Seckendorff zu Jochsberg family . According to a Brandenburg-Ansbach official report from 1608, Waizendorf and Steinbächlein formed a community of seven teams (= subject families), which were valid , taxable and tenable to the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste office in Colmberg and vogtable to the Brandenburg city bailiff's office in Leutershausen .

During the Thirty Years' War , a court register from 1641 reads: “Four farms, everything is empty, the heirs are out of the country.” In 1681 the four farms are subordinate to the Brunst court of the Leutershausen municipal bailiff.

In the border treaty of 1710 regarding the Fraisch between the House of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst and Brandenburg-Ansbach, Waizendorf was awarded to the margrave. In 1732 the hamlet consisted of four subjects of the Brandenburg-Ansbach office Brunst of the Leutershausen municipal bailiff, was pastor to Weißenkirchberg and gave two thirds of the tithe to the margravial caste office in Colmberg and one third to the Teutonic Order in Eschenbach , which had the patronage right of Weißenkirchberg before the Reformation would have. Together with Steinbächlein they owned a shepherd's house. At the end of the Old Kingdom the hamlet consisted of four courtyards, the shepherd's house and a crushing house . From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Leutershausen and Chamber Office Colmberg .

As part of the community edict, Waizendorf was assigned to the Jochsberg tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community Erlbach, founded in 1810 .

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Erlbach and thus Waizendorf was incorporated into the city of Leutershausen on January 1, 1972.
