history

The place is mentioned by name for the first time in a deed of 1 May 1000, in which the gift of hunting rights from Emperor Otto III. to Heinrich I , the then bishop of Würzburg. Documents report from a knight family of Lords von Bernheim in Hagenau.

In the 16-point report of the Brandenburg-Ansbach Oberamt Colmberg from 1608, 17 teams were listed for Hagenau, all of which had the Lords of Seckendorff zu Jochsberg as landlords . The High Court exercised the Vogtamt Colmberg . This corresponds to the 16-point report of the Leutershausen office from 1608. Hagenau was also mentioned in 1681 both in the 16-point report of the Colmberg Oberamt and in the 16-point report of the Leutershausen office. According to the Colmberg report there were 17 teams in Hagenau. The manorial conditions were unchanged. North of the brook, the Colmberg Vogtamt exercised the high court, south of the brook the Leutershausen City Bailiff, which, however, was disputed by Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst and was only settled in 1710 by a contract in favor of Colmberg and Leutershausen. According to the Leutershausen report, there should have been 19 teams in Hagenau.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 20 properties in Hagenau (4 courtyards, 3 half-farms, 1 half-farm with tavern , 7 Köblergüter , 1 Köblergut with tavern, 1 Schmied- Söldengütlein , 2 half Söldengütlein, 1 half Köblergut). The high court north of the brook still exercised the Vogtamt Colmberg, south of the brook the Stadtvogteiamt Leutershausen. The Jochsberg Vogtamt held the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties. In addition to the property, there was also the branch church and communal buildings (shepherd's house, Brechhaus ). From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Leutershausen and Chamber Office Colmberg .

In 1806 Hagenau came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Hagenau was assigned to the Buch am Wald tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Buch am Wald, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818), Hagenau became an independent rural community to which Berbersbach , Birkenmühle , Leimbachsmühle , Morlitzhaben and Rufenmühle belonged. The municipality was under the administration and jurisdiction of the district court Leutershausen and the financial administration of the Colmberg Rent Office . From 1858 to 1862, Hagenau was administered by the Schillingsfürst district court , and from 1862 by the Rothenburg ob der Tauber district office (renamed the Rothenburg ob der Tauber district in 1938 ). Jurisdiction remained with the Schillingsfürst Regional Court until 1879, Schillingsfürst Local Court from 1880 to 1927 , and Rothenburg ob der Tauber Local Court from 1927 . The financial management was taken over in 1858 by the Rentamt Rothenburg ob der Tauber (renamed the Finanzamt Rothenburg ob der Tauber in 1920 ). The municipality had an area of 7.634 km².

On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Hagenau came to the district of Ansbach in the course of the regional reform , on January 1, 1974 it was incorporated into Buch am Wald.
