The District Court of Rothenburg ob der Tauber was a Bavarian court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1879 to 1973 and was based in the city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria .

history

Until the beginning of the 19th century, Rothenburg ob der Tauber was a free imperial city with its own regional court and only became part of Bavaria with the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803. The Bavarian regional court of the older order in Rothenburg existed from 1808 to 1879. On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, a district court was established in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the district of which, in addition to the previous regional court district of Rothenburg , also included that of the regional court district of Leutershausen from 1880 . The superordinate instance was the regional court of Ansbach in the higher regional court district of Nuremberg .

With effect from January 1, 1928, the neighboring district court of Schillingsfürst was repealed and its district was assigned to the district court of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

1973 the district court Rothenburg ob der Tauber lost its independence and was assigned as a branch to the district court Ansbach .

Courthouse

The former district court building at Ansbacher Straße 2 is a two-storey, plastered, listed two-wing building with a hip and pitched roof, set stair tower with bell roof and front portal, built in the historicizing style by German Bestelmeyer , inscribed "1905/06"
