The Weißenburg District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of 73 district courts in Bavaria . It is located at Niederhofener Str. 9 in Weißenburg in Bavaria .

history

Until 1796 Weißenburg was a free imperial city with a city court, which was under Prussian sovereignty until 1806 . When the city passed to the Kingdom of Bavaria , two years later the court became the royal Bavarian district court (older order) Weißenburg with its seat in Ellingen . In 1817 the headquarters were moved to Weißenburg. Forty years later, the area of ​​responsibility expanded. 1879 by the Judicature Act , the District Court in District Court renamed. At the beginning of the 20th century, the first building , today's old district court , was built at Bahnhofstrasse 2. In the years from 1932 to 1933, a total of 56 municipalities were added to the jurisdiction of the local court. In April 1945 the court was closed by the Allies and reopened in August of the same year. The entry into force of the Rechtspfleger Act , the District Court White Castle received the foreclosure and receivership court and the bankruptcy court . In 1962 the courthouse was renovated. As a result of the regional reform in Bavaria, the Weißenburg district court has been subordinate to the Ansbach district court since 1973. The current main building was occupied in 1975 and rebuilt a year later. In 1980 the building was rebuilt and expanded in 1992. From 1995 all employees were housed in the building at Niederhofener Str. 9.

Area of ​​responsibility

The area of ​​responsibility extends to the entire district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The court has jurisdiction over civil, family and criminal matters and also keeps certain registers .

Christian Freudling is the director of the local court . 62 people are employed at the local court in Weißenburg. These include six judges , one senior civil servant as manager, eleven senior civil servant as judicial officer , six bailiffs , 17 civil servant of the intermediate judicial service, four civil servants of the ordinary judicial service and eleven employees (as of January 1, 2019).

Superior courts

The district court of Weissenburg is superordinate to the district court of Ansbach , which in turn is superordinate to the higher regional court of Nuremberg .
