history

Like the other Wendish settlements around Ansbach, the place was probably founded as early as the 10th century by Wenden, who originally settled in Viereth am Main and "donated it to the Bishop of Dioto of Würzburg for the Gumbertus-Stift " in 911 by King Konrad I “Were. The place was first mentioned in 1168 under the name "Egelolueswineden". The basic word of the place name “–winds” refers to the Wends, the defining word is the personal name “Egilolf”. A person of this name can be assumed to be the founder of the settlement.

In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Ansbach from 1684, eleven teams were listed for Egloffswinden (mill, four yards, two half yards, three estates and a Köblergut ), all of which had the Hofkastenamt Ansbach as landlord . There was also a community pastor's house. The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 13 properties in Egloffswinden (5 courtyards, 3 estates, 2 semi-estates, 2 semi-detached houses, 1 mill). The court office of Ansbach continued to exercise the high court, the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties. In addition to these properties there were also communal buildings (shepherd's house, breaker's house ). There were 18 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Egloffswinden was assigned to the Hennenbach tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Hennenbach , which was founded in 1811 . This was incorporated into the city of Ansbach on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
