The Iglesia Maradoniana - La Mano de D10S ( Spanish: Maradona Church - The Hand of God ) is a new religious movement with a parody about the former soccer player Diego Maradona that emerged in Argentina at the end of the 1990s . It claims to have 40,000 followers worldwide on its website.

The fun religion parodies the worship of this soccer player in Argentine folk culture and deliberately exaggerates it, but most of the members are real soccer fans. Initially a local event in the city of Rosario , it gained international attention after the turn of the millennium, including in German-language media.

description

Maradona is referred to as D10S in the IM . This is based on the Spanish word Dios ( god ) and on the number 10 (diez) on the back , which Maradona usually wore in his respective clubs. A new era based on the birth of Maradona in 1960 is used within the IM. The year 2012 is therefore the year 52 DD (Después de Diego, Spanish for 'after Diego').

October 30th, Maradona's birthday, is considered to be the highest public holiday; it is known as Navidad (literally 'birth festival', Christmas ) and the evening before Nochebuena ( Christmas Eve ). There is also the Maradonian Easter on the night of June 21st to 22nd, to commemorate the game of the Argentine national team on June 22nd 1986 at the World Cup in Mexico against England , at which Maradona with two famous goals - the “ hand God's "and the so-called" Gate of the Century "- secured the South Americans a narrow success against their arch rivals.

The autobiography of Maradona is considered holy scripture, his jerseys are considered relics, etc. a. that at SSC Napoli and that at the national team.

history

The Iglesia Maradoniana was founded on October 30, 1998 by the two football fans Hernán Amez and Héctor Campomarin in Rosario. At first they only celebrated Christmas as a gag in the circle of friends every year on this date on the occasion of Maradona's birthday, but more and more fans joined them. On November 10, 2001, at one of the numerous Maradona farewell games, a group was founded in Buenos Aires . Since then, the movement has been gaining more and more supporters, including prominent soccer players such as the Brazilian Ronaldinho and the Englishman Michael Owen .

Diego our

  • Diego nuestro que estás en las canchas. Santificada sea a tu zurda, venga a nosotros tu magia. Háganse tus goles recordar en la Tierra como en el Cielo. Danos hoy la magia de cada día, perdona a los ingleses, como nosotros perdonamos la mafia napolitana, no nos dejes caer en off-side y líbranos de Havellange y Pelé. Diego.
  • Diego our, who you are on the football field, hallowed be your left hand that brings us your magic. Your gates will be remembered in heaven as on earth. Give us some magic every day, forgive the English, just as we forgave the Neapolitan mafia. Don't get caught offside and free us from Havelange and Pelé . Diego.
