history
The place was first mentioned by name in 1351 as "Phaffenreuth" with the meaning of settlement to the clearing site of the pastors . The founder of this place was the Ansbach Canon Monastery , which probably cleared this area in the 11th century.
In 1460, Duke Louis IX attacked. of Bavaria and its allies the Ansbach Margrave Albrecht Achilles . They looted and destroyed by fire and the like. a. Eyb and the neighboring villages of Alberndorf , Grüb , Hirschbronn , Katterbach , Obereichenbach , Pfaffengreuth and Untereichenbach .
In the 16-point report of the Principality of Ansbach from 1684, six teams are listed for Pfaffengreuth: four properties were subordinate to the Ansbach court box office , one property was subordinate to the Ansbach monastery and one property to the mayor and council of Ansbach . There was also a communal shepherd's house. The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach.
Towards the end of the 18th century there were five properties and a community shepherd's house in Pfaffengreuth. The court box office in Ansbach continued to exercise the high court and the village and community rule. The Principality of Ansbach was the landlord (Hofkastenamt Ansbach: 1 half courtyard, 1 estate, 1 empty building ; Abbey Office Ansbach: 1 Söldengut , Ansbacher Council: 1 half courtyard). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .
As part of the community edict, Pfaffengreuth was assigned to the Eyb tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Eyb, founded in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) Pfaffengreuth was re-ceded to Hennenbach . On August 25, 1830, Pfaffengreuth was reassigned to Eyb.
In the topo-geographical-statistical lexicon of the Kingdom of Bavaria (1832) the place is described as follows:
“Hamlet with 6 houses and 36 inhabitants, in the L [an] dg [ericht] Ansbach and in the Pf [a] r [rei] St. Johannis there, 3 ⁄ 4 hours from Ansbach away. In the district was the Pfaffenforst , over which the Margrave Albrecht appointed Berthold Leupold in Dierbach to be a forester in 1443. The Dominican monastery in Nuremberg used to have properties there, which were later sold to the Margraves of Ansbach. "
On October 1, 1970, Eyb and the associated districts were incorporated into the city of Ansbach before the regional reform in Bavaria .
