GWGET is the download manager of the GNU Network Object Model Environment (Gnome).

With GWGET, downloads can be conveniently managed using the following functions:

  • Download resumption: GWGET tries to resume downloads after an accidental termination
  • Notification Area: GWGET runs in the background
  • Recursivity: create websites available offline (selectively based on media data, etc.)
  • Drag & Drop : Url can be added to the download source via the main window or via the icon in the notification area
  • Firefox extension: FireGet
  • Epiphany add-on

The Firefox extension FireGet only works up to Firefox version 1.6. In more recent Firefox versions, Gwget can be integrated with the FlashGot extension .

During the download, GWGET shows the estimated remaining duration of the process, the amount of data already transferred or other information if required.
