GaLaBau Nuremberg

The GaLaBau , European trade fair for urban green and open spaces, is an international trade fair for horticulture, landscaping, the maintenance and construction of sports fields, golf courses and playground construction. It is held every two years by NürnbergMesse in the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. The ideal sponsor of GaLaBau is the Federal Association of Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Field Construction based in Bad Honnef .

With the topic of golf and "PLAYGROUND", GaLaBau offers two specialist sections. The topic of golf is a forum for the construction, maintenance and management of golf courses in Germany. It is organized jointly by NürnbergMesse and the Federal Association of Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Field Construction. "Playground" is the contact point at GaLaBau for manufacturers of playground equipment and leisure facilities. Since 2014 there has also been a joint stand at GaLaBau for young innovative companies from Germany, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

In 2016 GaLaBau recorded 1,320 exhibitors, 336 of them from abroad. The number of exhibitors thus remained constant; the share of international exhibitors rose from 23 to 25%. 64,138 trade visitors came to the event.

Supporting program

In 2014 the GaLaBau practical forum “Planning and Knowledge Compact” celebrated its premiere. The forum is intended to provide landscape architects with practical knowledge for their work.

GaLaBau is also the venue for the federal German professional competition for landscape gardeners. Young landscape gardeners from all over Germany compete in teams of two for the "Landscape Gardener Cup" in order to qualify for the preliminary decision for participation in the international professional world championship "WorldSkills". The team of Vitus Pirschlinger and Michael Schmidt (training company: Gaissmaier Landschaftsbau from Freising) was the “German Master 2016” of the landscape gardener trainees.
