Gabriele Binder-Maier

Gabriele Binder-Maier (born March 4, 1956 in Sankt Valentin ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a member of the Austrian National Council from 2008 to 2013 .

education and profession

Gabriele Binder-Maier attended primary school between 1962 and 1966 and then secondary school until 1970. Between 1970 and 1974, Binder-Maier was trained as a kindergarten teacher at the Federal Institute for Kindergarten Education in Linz . She then worked as a kindergarten teacher for the Steyr magistrate until 1975 and for the Upper Austrian Children's Friends between 1975 and 1989 . From 1989 to 2008 she was employed at the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government.

Political career

Gabriele Binder-Maier began her political career in her home town of St. Valentin, where 1984-1987 as a councilor worked. She also exercised this function between 1991 and 1996 and since 2000. In between, Gabriele Binder-Maier held the position of city councilor for St. Valentin (1987 to 1991). From 1987 Gabriele Binder-Maier also took on functions in the Amstetten district organization . Between 1987 and 2003 she was district chairwoman of the SPÖ Amstetten, from 2003 to 2009 she held the office of district party leader. In addition, Binder-Maier was elected regional party chairman's deputy in Lower Austria in 1999 and has been the regional women's chairwoman of the SPÖ Lower Austria since 2001. Between 1993 and 2004, Binder-Maier also worked as the family spokeswoman for the Austrian Children's Friends.

Gabriele Binder-Maier first moved into the National Council on December 18, 1990, where she initially stayed until November 6, 1994. From March 14, 1996 to the end of the XXIII. In the legislative period on October 27, 2008, she was a permanent member of the National Council and held a mandate for the Mostviertel constituency . From 2008 to 2013 she was the family spokeswoman for the SPÖ parliamentary club.
