Gaesdonck is a district of Goch and administratively belongs to the core city. It is embraced by the Toten Kendel , a former loop of the Kendel stream that flows into the Niers from the left at the German-Dutch border . Near Gaesdonck, the Tote Kendel forms the border to the neighboring Dutch town of Siebengewald , one of the five settlement centers of the Limburg municipality of Bergen . In the 19th century, the former canon monastery of Gaesdonck became the archbishop's grammar school, Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck, which still exists today . The former collegiate church belonging to it is one of the numerous works of brick Gothic in the Lower Rhine region .
