Gaius Turpilius Verecundus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaius Turpilius Verecundus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

Two military diplomas dated February 8, 157, prove that Verecundus 157 was the commander of the Cohors I Thracum Germanica , which at that time was stationed in the province of Pannonia Inferior . He possibly came from Verona , since the gentile name Turpilius is attested here by an inscription.
