Gala (potato)
Gala is an early, mainly waxy table potato from the breeder Norika. It was voted Thuringian Potato of the Year in 2010.
Tuber properties
The round oval tubers are ideal for machine peeling because of the flat eyes. The number of tubers per bush is comparatively high, but the water supply must be secured for good yields. There is little discoloration when cooked.
planting
The tuber nest of the Gala variety is slightly elevated; therefore the planting material should be placed around 2 cm deeper than usual. It should pre-germinated be used seedlings. A treatment against Rhizoctonia is recommended.
