The Games Week Berlin (also: games week berlin , Games Week Berlin ) is in Berlin -based, annual series of conferences and events for the video game industry and gamers . history

Gamesweekberlin was initiated and planned in 2013 as a follow-up event to the German Gamestage . The aim was to present the German capital Berlin as an up-and-coming hub for international video game production. The events, people and organizations combined under the new umbrella brand were the developer conference QUO VADIS, the art and game culture festival A MAZE., The network for representatives of the media industry media: net Berlin-Brandenburg, the computer game museum Berlin and the funding agency Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg . The first edition of the then new Gamesweekberlin took place in April 2014 at different locations in Berlin. A MAZE. / Berlin

A MAZE. was founded in 2008 and is the organizer of one of the oldest and most internationally renowned festivals for computer game art and indie games, the A MAZE. / BERLIN. This is aimed at international creatives from the games industry with workshops and lectures. The heart of the event is an exhibition and a creative competition including an award ceremony. The portfolio of A MAZE. includes the production of festivals, exhibitions, conferences, workshops, game jams, artist in residence programs and a magazine. Aim of A MAZE. is to show the current state of artistic and experimental game design, alternative digital or semi-digital games as well as interactive digital art. With pop-up events and appearances in different countries, etc. a. Brazil and South Africa, it takes on the role of a cultural ambassador of artistic game development and underground game culture.

QUO VADIS

The QUO VADIS - game development & business conference is the oldest conference for video game developers in Germany. The majority of the audience is made up of professionals from the video game industry, mainly from Germany and other European countries. QUO VADIS was founded in 2003 by Aruba Events GmbH in Oberhausen. In 2007 she moved to Berlin, which led to the establishment of the Deutsche Gamestage. QUO VADIS is a constitutional member of Gamesweekberlin. The conference moved three times within Berlin. The current location from 2020 is Postbahnhof Luckenwalder Straße.

Womenize!

Womenize! Games & Tech is a series of events for women and underrepresented people in the games or technology industry, with a focus on lectures, panel discussions, workshops and recruiting. The format was initiated by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research and first carried out in 2015 by the Berlin event agency Booster Space.

Gamefest

The Gamefest was founded in 2014 under the name “Gamefest am Computerspielemuseum” as the only consumer event during Gamesweekberlin. Rather than targeting professionals from the game industry, Gamefest appeals to gamers of all ages with a family-friendly program. Therefore, above all, content is exhibited that is also suitable for a minor audience. In the course of the efforts to unite a large part of the Gamesweekberlin events under one roof, the Gamefest 2018 has given up its traditional seat in the Computer Games Museum Berlin and is now always in the same rooms as the QUO VADIS and the WOMENIZE! instead of.
