Gamirru

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to Assyrian sources, Gamirru or Gāmirra was the home of the Gimurru, who are usually equated with the Cimmerians of Herodotus .

The Harper Letters name Gamirru, which is usually located north of Urartu , as the home of the Gimurru . Kristensen, on the other hand, wants to locate it southeast of Urartu, but hardly any researchers followed her here. Diakonov assumes that Gamirru was in the Gori region on the upper Kura and was later transferred to Cappadocia .
