history

The Swiss old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV) was introduced in 1948 and the “AHV Wirte” compensation fund was founded by the Swiss Wirteverband to settle the first pillar. In 1974, the Swiss Wirteverband set up the “BAV Wirte”, a pension fund for the second pillar. In 1985, the Swiss Federal Law on Occupational Pensions (BVG) made the pension fund mandatory. Since 1996, the Swiss restaurateurs association has been renamed "GastroSuisse". The compensation fund was named “AHV GastroSuisse”, the pension fund “BAV GastroSuisse”. In 2005, the compensation fund and the pension fund were merged and renamed "GastroSocial". In order to simplify internal processes, the spatial merger with the new headquarters in Aarau followed in 2016.

Legal bases

The legal basis of the compensation fund are the Federal Law on Old Age and Survivors' Insurance (AHVG), the Federal Law on Invalidity Insurance (IVG), the Federal Law on Acquisition Compensation for Service Providers and Maternity (EOG) and the Federal Law on Family Allowances.

The statutory basis of the pension fund is the Federal Act on Occupational Old-Age, Survivors 'and Disability Pension Plans (BVG), the Federal Act on Freedom of Movement in Occupational Old-Age, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans (Vested Benefits Act, FZG) and the associated ordinances. The regulations of the GastroSocial pension fund are also part of the legal basis.

organization

The highest body of the fund is the presidium, consisting of the board of directors of the compensation fund and the board of trustees of the pension fund. The Board of Trustees is made up of six employee and six employer representatives and is elected for three years. The other bodies include an external pension fund expert, an auditing company as the external control body, an advisor on legal issues and the Federal Social Insurance Office as the supervisory authority. The management is responsible for operational management.
