Gawdawpalin Temple
The Gawdawpalin Temple (Burmese ကော တော့ ပလ္လင် ဘုရား, pronounced: ɡɔ́dɔ̰pəlɪ̀ɴ pʰəjá) is a Buddhist temple in Bagan , Myanmar .
history
The temple was started in the reign of King Narapatisithu (1174-1211) and completed in 1227 under King Htilominlo .
description
The Gawdawpalin temple belongs Sulamani , Htilominlo and Thatbinnyu to the group of two-storey monumental. It was badly damaged in the 1975 earthquake, but has since been rebuilt.
The temple is 60 m high, making it one of the tallest buildings in Bagan. The building consists of two cuboids placed one above the other, each with three recessed terraces, the corners of which are decorated with small stupas. A Shikhara forms the upper end . An entrance hall is in front of both blocks to the east.
