Gbele Wildlife Reserve

The Gbele Game Reserve (ger .: Gbele Game Production Reserve ) is a game reserve in Ghana in the Upper West Region , near the border with Burkina Faso and was established in 1975. It is the northernmost reserve in Ghana and has a size of 546.50 km². The Kulpawn River divides the area.

The area lies in the tree savannah and is comparable to the Mole National Park . Similar to the Mole National Park, buffalo , waterbuck , three primate species, leopards , lions and a few elephants can be seen here. A notable population of the horse antelope (Hippotragus equinus) is at home here. The reserve, founded in 1974, was initially expressly used for hunting and was a popular target among trophy hunters.
